Sponsorship opportunities for IGCC2025

One behalf of the international organising committee I am pleased to invite you to consider sponsoring the International Giardia and Cryptosporidium Conference to be held at Melbourne Connect in Parkville, Victoria, Australia from February 23rd to 26th 2025.

Cryptosporidium and Giardia are globally significant gastrointestinal parasites of humans, wildlife and livestock animals. Cryptosporidium is the second leading cause of acute diarrhoeal disease in humans, causing an estimated 200,000 deaths per year, particularly in young children in populations living in high poverty. Human-infectious Cryptosporidium can cause major waterborne outbreaks swimming pools, day care centres or municipal water supplies, due to the ability of their chlorine and heat-resiliant transmissive stage. In live stock animals, particularly cattle, cryptosporidiosis is a major cause of illness in young calves resulting in significant production losses. Giardiasis is the fourth most common foodborne illness globally, causing >1 billion infections each year, and a proven risk factor in post-infectious gastrointestinal disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome.

IGCC conference and delegates

IGCC was founded by the international Cryptosporidium and Giardia research community and is the major global meeting for the field showcasing the highest quality research from around the world. We anticipate hosting 250 delegates in Melbourne in 2025 in the outstanding conference facilities at Melbourne Connect, on the eastern edge of the University of Melbourne’s Parkville Campus. Our research program will feature world-leading research on the molecular and cellular biology, genomics, genetics, diagnostics, epidemiology, treatment and control of the two globally significant parasites.

Major research program themes
